ISMRD is pleased to announce a major overhaul and redesign of our Message Board,  the Penguin Cafe.  The new look features easy to read and find topics open for public discussions on each of the Glycoprotein Storage Diseases.  There is also a private area for subscribers only, called the Crèche, and the Flying School for learning how to use the forums.

We invite all our visitors to visit and interact with one another and let us know how we can improve its functioning.

Scientific Workshop on the Glycoproteinoses
Through the auspices of the National Institute for Neurological Diseases & Stroke. and the Office of Rare Diseases, the first international conference on Glycoprotein Storage Diseases was held in Rockville, Maryland USA on April 1-4, 2004.  This event brought together leading scientists and clinicians to discuss current knowledge of these diseases, opportunities for collaborative research and possible future developments resulting one day in therapies.   Concurrent to the professional activities, ISMRD convened its first Family Conference, enabling those affected by one of the nine Glycoprotein Storage Diseases to interact with one another and with scientists and clinicians.  Please contact us for further information and watch for website coverage of the events coming soon!

ISMRD Broadens Disease Support
ISMRD now includes Mucolipidosis II and Mucolipidosis III in its umbrella of Glycoprotein Storage Diseases.  As with the other related diseases, our scope is global and our mission is to identify affected families and to encourage research activity that develops therapies and cures.  We invite all families affected by one of these diseases to contact us  for further information about ISMRD, or visit our Penguin Cafe Message Board to interact with other ML families.  ISMRD never charges dues for any services which we provide and supports those affected regardless of their nationality or native language.
